Common Ground
Founded following the “Spring of Life” demonstrations in 1992, the Buffalo Coalition for Common Ground was founded to bring together pro-life and pro-choice activists to seek common ground in the conflict over abortion and to foster collaboration where possible. With the support and administration of the Network of Religious Communities, Common Ground continues to provide workshops on the Common Ground approach to conflict resolution, facilitates dialogues on abortion, and conducts collaborative efforts to foster adoption and address teen-age pregnancy.
CROP Walks
The Network of Religious Communities is a partner with Church World Service in sponsoring and facilitating annual CROP Walks throughout Western New York. In 2000, funds raised in area CROP Walks increased to over $90,000.
Roll Call Against Racism
Growing out of the Religious Community’s Response to the Burning of African American Churches across the nation. The Network helped to organize a community-wide rally in late August 1996 known as the “Roll Call Against Racism.” Since then we have been working with the Study Circle Resource Center to sponsor Study Circles on Race and Racism for congregations.
